LOOT TEAM 2012

LOOT - Call Me Maybe

Monday, August 13, 2012

Well, well. Another amazing LOOT summer adventure has come to close. I sadly drove Roberto to the airport this afternoon, I know he was very anxious to be with his family again. They were all going to welcome him at the airport and then go on a family holiday together. However, I did see a bit of sadness in his eyes about the ending of our summer. He is an amazing coach and human being. How many coaches out there are this talented in their field and also agree to live in all kinds of arrangements all summer long, drive a van/bus full of ipod blaring kids whilst towing a large trailer, be with our children virtually 24/7, repair boats, play sports pyschologist, play psuedo parent, etc. etc.?  I told him by the time his children reach our children's ages he will be the perfect expert parent!
Let's reflect on moments of the summer: Sailing and lots of it, in almost every kind of wind condition, training, racing, seeing the team's results climbing up the result sheets, our welcome dinner at the Turners, swimming, water trampolining, tubing, power boating, tsunamis, music videos, roller coasters, Roberto's first time on a roller coaster and likely his last, long crazy drives arriving at "ungodly" hours and then to turn around a race again the next day, our amazing team dinner, the Eiseners goofy joke gifts and speeches, our yummy and gorgeous loot cake, our team photo books, our wonderful team photo, the girls new team name "LOST"( Lake Ontario Shopping Team), the singing, the teasing, the laughing, the throwing up ( Roberto, Georgia and Sebby!) and, yeah, some crying but all in way to help our children grow into strong, confident young adults.
Thank you to everyone for all your help, your parents and friends help, your support, effort, kindness, humour and for having your kids be part of this magical thing called LOOT. Enjoy the rest of the summer and hope to cross paths with you all again. Over and out for LOOT 2012!

Hi everyone, since many of you are here much of this is irrelevant but thought I email whole group. We are doing everything we can to get her ready for her big trip to china to Tomorrow !

they are on their way from Newport to Cork - travel is going smooth so far - I have talked to Dan and Jessica a few times.  They will be late to get to cork - but - last I talked to them the van was beginning to quiet! So hopefully they get some sleep in the van - that is the plan - I also know Ingrid has communicated with the drivers all the instructions to get the kids into the dorms as quick and as smooth as possible.

New Englands first Day

All

Just a quick update Today started with light winds and they postponed on shore for an hour while waiting for the see breeze to fill in. Once on the water they got three races in and got back to shore around 430 to 500. As it stands now all I get from the kids about the races is could of done better. Roberto James Declan Mikey and Christian are still at the club as Mikey is a witness and Declan and James are protesting the race committee due to flying the general recall instead of the individual recall flag. Apparently when
the RC figured it out they changed the flags but the boys had turned around an headed back so they are trying to throw out the race or ask for redress The boys finally got back from the club and they won a redress so the got an average of their first two races for the third race.

When you drive into Fort Adams park in the morning it s just a sea of opti sails....over 350 boats here

Results for the first day of racing are

22  Ceci
33  Mikey
53  Sebby
54  Jessica
64  James
71  Christian
73  Jillian
89  Georgia
101  Declan
159 Cameron

Arrival for New Englands

We made it to our house last night around 730 and got everyone fed and off to bed it was a long day of travel. Today we got up and Roberto thought the winds were good so the kids went sailing we launched by Ida Lewis yacht club and they were out sailing for about 4 and half hours. When they got in we had to load everything back up in the trailer and brought it back to the house. Tomorrow we are of to sail Newport to unload again!!! Right now Roberto is debriefing.
Lorie the house is perfect and would recommend it to anyone

8/3/2012

Sorry for not blogging! Time is going very fast.  The kids went to the mall on Tuesday.  They love that!  They then got here just in time for a quick storm.  After the storm passed they wanted to swim (in the rain) - most swam nearly till dark I had to call them in.  We had dinner, then bed.  Yesterday- they sailed all day - nice weather - light wind - and then Ingrid brought us dinner which was Great!  Everyone loved the potatoes and the steak, so we will all need the reciepes.  We ate well!  Today - they again had a nice long day of practice.  All wanted to swim after a quick snack of carrots and nuttella (also to be added to the LOOT cook book - thank you Declan!) - so Dan took us out to the Lake for an hour or so (see the pics). They then had a great debrief and then dinner of chicken and the left over steak from last night.

Tonight the kids must have jumped off the boat 100 times each!  I have some great pictures - I will continue to try and post.  Also - Roberto has a GREAT video of the kids doing a drill!!! Sooo funny! We are all in hopes to add it to the blog - I would have no idea how to do that.  Maybe - Declan and Jillian will get that done on the way to Newport!!  There is also talk of another music video.  The kids are learning alot! I would not mind to have them for the entire summer! They are all Great kids!  So fun - So funny!

Tuesday - Mall day

After a bit of a sleep in and an excellent bfast at the Turners we hit the road to head to the Leitz's.  On the way we stopped at a large mall near Rochester and the kids did a little shopping, girls buying cloths.....and the boys helicopters, skateboards, spots stuff.

Kids passed on to Dan.........

Cedar Park

Team LOOT at Cedar Park

Monday, the Park......we arived at around 10am and quickly hit the big rollar coasters.  The smart ones went with Marc (Will and Christain) leaving Roberto to ride with the rest.  Ride 1 good.......ride 2 our coach went down.  It was a coaster were you stand up, it does flips, goes fast.....upside down...truely not a ride to take on your first go....

Roberto took some time off and called it a day for rollar coasters.  Kids split into girls boys and had a great day.  We ended up leaving close to 6:30pm and headed on our drive to the Turners arriving after 11pm.

Kids slept well.

Day 4 US Nationals

Day started with a skippers meeting.  Weather did not look good with wind 0-4knts, another problem is the amount of recreation boats cuasing unusual waves.  Race Committee was able to get 2 races off with very mixed results for Team LOOT.
